What is the colour of water?

What is the colour of water?.. Interesting question...

"Water is colorless or transparent and in large bodies like ocean, it appears to be blue, due to the scattering of light". This is what we have studied at elementary classes. I also had the same belief. But recently I came to know the ultimate truth. The colour of water is "Turquoise Blue." i.e. the water itself is a blue-coloured chemical. According to the frequency spectra for pure liquid water, a short water column has a very light shade of turquoise blue. Thicker layers (many meters) appear much darker blue. It is only when collected in a large body that water's blue colour becomes apparent.

Time for operators to slash STD SMS rate

Web based sms providers are gaining more popularity among youngsters and event organizers…The average STD sms cost in India being 2 rupees is driving the popularity. Indyarocks, smslife, way2sms, smsgupshup etc. are few among them. Accounts in any of these providers enable you to send unlimited sms to any mobile...Due to the legal issues your number will no be displayed in the "sender field".

My favourite site is smsgupshup. It is having a unique feature which enables us to integrate with Google chat. To send an sms to an individual or a group is just an IM away in GMail. You can also join any group like "news" and get sms updates free of cost...

Biotechnology in India, the reality.

I selected BT as a career, due the passion…and also due to the much predicted Biotech boom in India. Unfortunately nothing happened, like what happened in IT !!. But still the media continues with those 10 year old statements-"BT booming in India". At present conditions, BT is not a lucrative career as IT. After spending lot of money on education most of the biotech aspirants fail to find a job and alter their career to marketing or other fields. The main problem is that most of the companies won't take freshers and if so they follow reference system.

The condition of BT in India.

In India, cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and pune have significant number of Biotech companies. But the fact is that, they altogether are not enough to employ even quarter of the biotech graduates passed out, each year.

Fact about Biotechnology...

During studies most of the biotech aspirant dream of becoming a scientist...playing with DNA…but the reality is that.most of the applications of this technology can be done only in a lab having huge funding and equipped with costly instruments…In a country like India the number of well equipped labs and institutes are nominal..

About the educational system...

In India most of the students choose biology probably due to their interest or due to their hate towards mathematics...Actually most of the teachers forget the importance of computing and mathematics in biological studies...So biotech graduates are produced with out any knowledge in computing...statistics...or physics. Even though these topics are included in the syllabus, no one study all these with much interest and we become less competent to the students abroad...

Let's hope that a revolution happen in biotech sector in the coming years, as what happened in IT. And my advice is that "Never take biotechnology as a career unless if you have a great interest".!!!!.... Still..let me also quote -

"Biotechnology-The Science of 21st century"

Customize your wikipedia..

Most of the people use wikipedia. But only few make an account and utilize its full potential. Its simple.. just make an account . In the preferences you can choose different skins.(Modern is my favourite). Then in the "Gadgets" option put the browser gadget "navigation pop ups on". Save preferences and reload...

You will get a brand new wikipedia. The navigation pop ups is an excellent feature. If you don't know the meaning of any term which is having a link, just place mouse over the word-a pop up will come giving a brief description of the term reducing the need of going into the respective page.

My Blogging time line……

Due to the growth and influence of user-generated content on internet like blogging, social networking etc…time magazine named "you" as the "person of the year-2006". Being inspired by that I also started a Blog in the end of 2006 in yahoo360.,Unfortunately, I made the page and I left and never given any attention…After that I planned to start a blog on latest happenings in the area of biotechnology…but I came to know that, dealing biotech or research articles may lead to some issues with copyright or patency, since most of the finding and general topics are patented or either copyrighted. I have done lot of readings for the safe use of these types of contents…after all I realized that even using an article under "fair use" may sometimes cannot be justifiable...

Like that I ended up in starting a personal blog just to share some simple things…

Something I really forgot to do in the beginning…!!!!

Nokia Battery Myth !!

Long back I heard that Nokia phones got a hidden Battery which can be activated by typing *3370#. I came to know that this will Activate Half Rate Codec - that the phone uses a lower quality sound but you gain approx 30% more Talk Time and there is nothing to do with any Hidden Battery.
I tried this magic in most of the Nokia phones but it didn't worked...Recently I seen one guy showing another technique in a TV show.Astonishingly it worked on my Nokia 1112i...!!!!
1.When the battery is near to empty, remove the battery and place a very small paper enough to mask the middle battery contact of the phone.
2.Then insert the battery and switch on.(Make sure that the middle contact is masked by the paper)
3.When the screen is turned on,remove the paper...Display may show INSERT SIM...
4.The phone will start showing full battery. I don't know the mechanism behind it.But any way it is useful when the battery is empty. It worked on my phone,I am only expressing my experience...so....
"NO GUARANTEE IF YOU ARE USING THIS TIP ON YOUR PHONE !!!!"
